The Serbian women’s water polo team under 16 (born in 2010 and younger) participated in the international tournament in Korčula in recent days, along with 17 other teams from Croatia, Spain, Greece, the Netherlands… The Serbian water polo team had three wins, two draws and one loss in six matches played, and finished the competition in ninth place.
The tournament represented a significant segment of the preparation process for the upcoming World Championship of this generation, and through a series of demanding matches, Daniela Ćuk and her assistants had the opportunity to check the current level of form of the players.
The coaching staff can be satisfied with the commitment, discipline and approach shown by the players, and the women’s national team continues preparations in early June with the aim of performing as well as possible at the World Championship, which is being held from July 25 to 31 in Zagreb.
The Serbian women’s water polo team opened the tournament with a convincing victory against Scotland (23:2), then drew with the Spanish club Saint Andreu (7:7) and lost to Donko (14:10).
In the group for 9th to 12th place, Daniela Ćuk’s team defeated Greek Panionios 13:8 and Spanish Rubi 14:6, while in the last match of the tournament they played a draw with Dutch RTC Midden (7:7) and finished the tournament in ninth place.
First place was taken by Catalunya, who defeated Dunajvaros 11:8 in the final, and in the fight for third place and the bronze medal, Terrassa was better than Mladost with a score of 10:6.
