The Serbian youth water polo team (players under 16) advanced to the final of the Balkan Games in Thessaloniki, after defeating the Montenegrin team 11:10 in the semi-finals after a better performance in the five-pointers. The match was tied 6:6 (1:2, 1:3, 3:0, 1:1) in regular time, and the Serbian water polo players won 5:4 in the penalty shootout.
Serbia was three goals behind after the first half (2:5), but with a great performance in the third quarter, they managed to fully return to the match and equalize the score.
In the last period, both teams scored one goal each, so the winner was decided only after the penalty shootout. The Serbian water polo players were more confident in the penalty shootout and deservedly qualified for the final of the Balkan Games.
