The water polo players of Radnički from Kragujevac defended their Serbian championship title, after defeating Novi Beograd 11:8 in the third match of the Super League final series. The Kragujevac team thus finished the final with the maximum result, 3:0 in victories, after winning the first two matches with 15:10 and 13:11.
The decisive match in Kragujevac started at a tight pace, with an emphasis on defense from both teams. Novi Beograd was the first to take the lead, but Radnicki responded quickly and took a 3:2 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The home team had a better period of play in the second half and reached a three-goal lead, but the guests stayed in the match through Miloš Ćuk, so the halftime score was 5:4 for Radnički.
The key part of the match was played in the third quarter. Radnički then strengthened its defense, took advantage of several important attacks and entered the final period with an 8:5 advantage. Novi Beograd tried to come back, but the home team controlled the gap, and Radoslav Filipović gave them security on goal, who finished the match with 19 saves.
In the final minutes, Radnički maintained their lead and brought the match to an end without major fluctuations. The most efficient players in the winning team were Strahinja Rašović and Andrija Prlainović with three goals each, while Miloš Ćuk stood out for Novi Beograd with three, as well as Marko Dimitrijević and Viktor Urošević with two goals each.
Andrija Prlainović was named the most valuable player of the final series.
This is Radnički’s third Serbian championship title. The medals and the winner’s cup were presented by Marko Avramović, President of the Assembly of the Serbian Water Polo Federation.
