The Serbian women’s water polo team (players under 16) will participate in the World Championship, which will be held in Zagreb, starting on July 25th.
24 national teams will compete in the championship, and the title will be defended by the Spanish national team, which triumphed at the previous championship, held two years ago in Manisa, Turkey.
All national teams will compete in the same group in the first phase, and over the course of four rounds, each national team will face teams of varying quality — two potentially stronger and two potentially weaker teams. The eight best teams will then directly qualify for the quarterfinals, while the remaining national teams will play for 9th to 24th place. A total of 84 matches will be played during the championship.
The Serbian national team lineup: Jana Pejić, Vanja Đuric, Luna Stanisić, Milica Pavić, Anastazija Ilic, Nevena Milosavljevic, Masha Ćuk, Dunja Lovčević, Đurđina Arsenijevic, Nina Pekovic, Ivona Želalić, Milica Markovic, Andjela Konjevic and Mila Janićijevic.
Coaching staff: Daniela Ćuk, coach; Aleksandar Pavlović, assistant coach; Robert Šimon, assistant coach; Dragana Ivković, physiotherapist; Novica Todosijević, team manager.
National team coach Daniela Ćuk stated before the start of the World Cup:
“We have had seven weeks of very high-quality and intensive preparations behind us, during which we went through all phases of the training process as planned. Through a large number of training sessions and international sparring matches, we had the opportunity to check where we are currently and to further improve the team. I believe that we arrived at the World Championship well prepared and that we will give our maximum in every match. Our goal is to be disciplined and courageous and to raise the level of our game day by day, and the final placement will be the result of everything we show in the pool.”

• July 26 at 20:35: Serbia – Romania
• July 27 at 2:30 PM: Serbia – Canada
• July 28 at 8:35 PM: Serbia – Brazil
