The Serbian women’s water polo team (under-16) took 12th place at the World Championship in Zagreb. Daniela Ćuk’s team was defeated by China in the last match of the championship after performing a five-pointer with a score of 11:9. After four quarters, the score was tied – 8:8 (1:2, 0:1, 3:4, 4:1), and the Chinese women were more successful in performing a five-pointer with a score of 3:1.
Our national team started the match well and led 2:1 after the first quarter. Serbia won the second period without conceding a goal, so they went into halftime with a 3:1 lead.
The good play continued in the third quarter, which the Serbian water polo team won with a score of 4:3, leading 7:4 heading into the final period. However, the Chinese team managed to make up for the deficit in the final period and chose to execute five-pointers.
In the penalty shootout, the Chinese national team was more confident and secured 11th place with a victory, while Serbia finished the World Cup in 12th place.
The most efficient player in the Serbian national team was Maša Ćuk with five goals. Milica Pavić, Milica Marković and Nina Peković each scored one goal.
