The Serbian men’s water polo team (players under 20) recorded their first victory at the European Championship in Varna, after convincingly defeating Germany in the second round of Group B with a score of 22:13 (6:3, 5:2, 5:4, 6:4).
Coach Miloš Korolija’s team controlled the game from the very beginning and won all four quarters. Serbia had a three-goal lead after the first period – 6:3, and with a confident game in the following period, they increased the lead to 11:5 by halftime.
The young Serbian water polo players continued in the same rhythm in the second half. The third quarter went to Serbia with a score of 5:4, while in the last eight minutes they scored six more goals and achieved a convincing victory 22:13.
The most efficient players in the Serbian national team were Vuk Kojić and Miljan Đokanović with five goals each, while Vasilije Pakaški scored three. Filip Novaković, Vuk Čonkić, Strahinja Krstić and Luka Kanepa scored two goals each, and Strahinja Nešković scored once.
After losing to Spain after a five-goal deficit at the start of the championship, Serbia thus achieved its first victory in Group B.
Serbia will face Montenegro in their final group stage match on Wednesday. The match is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Serbian time.
