The Easter tournament for water polo players born in 2011 and later began in Budva on Wednesday, and the Serbian water polo players defeated Greece 16:11 at the start of the tournament.
Vojislav Čupić’s team opened the match brilliantly and after five minutes of play they were leading 5:0. The Greeks managed to play in the second period and with three goals they equalized (4:4). The fight was even until the end of the first half, and Serbia took the lead 6:5 with a goal by Maksim Krečković two seconds before the end of that part of the game.
The same player then started Serbia, which on several occasions had a five-goal lead and did not allow the opponent to get back into the match.
Serbia played with the following lineup: Milošević, Krečković 5, Bulatović, Pantović, Ranitović 2, Ganović 3, Tršić 1, Abandžić 4, Stanković, Grgić, Tulimirović 1, Stojiljković, Vujčić, Maljugić, Popović.
In other first-round matches, Italy defeated Montenegro 14:12, while Croatia was better than Hungary 14:11.
Our water polo players will meet Hungary today at 16:30, while on Thursday their rivals will be Croatia (10:40) and Italy (16:30), and on Friday at 12:15 the home team Montenegro.
