Serbia ready for the start of the European Championship in Portugal

The European Women’s Water Polo U20 Championship began today in Oeiras, Portugal. The championship, which will last until August 7, features 20 national teams, divided into six groups.

The Serbian national team will compete in Group F, along with the national teams of Turkey and Switzerland.

The following players will represent Serbia at the European Championship: Nađa Kulić, Irena Trbanos, Nika Ratković, Vjera Bulajić, Danica Balać, Andrea Lazović, Helena Klikovac, Jovana Radonjić, Jana Janković, Elena Ćuk, Nađa Milenkovic, Una Jelenić, Lena Petković, Tara Žagar and Natalija Andjelković.

The coaching staff consists of head coach Dejan Bozić, assistant coaches Aleksandar Anastasijevic and Igor Jovanović, as well as Milana Popov, in charge of medical support.

Serbia is free in the first round, and will play their first match at the championship on Sunday at 12:15 PM against the Swiss national team.

Coach Dejan Bozić emphasized that the atmosphere in the team is excellent and that our girls are ready and motivated to welcome the start of the European Championship.

“We arrived in Portugal and had our first official training sessions in Oeiras. The conditions in the pool complex are excellent, and the girls are extremely motivated and focused on the tasks ahead.”

We got acquainted with the training and match schedule. The pace will be strenuous, as expected at such a big competition.

Every match in this championship carries a special weight. The girls have worked well during the preparation period, the atmosphere in the team is excellent, and the most important thing is to minimize mistakes and enter the tournament with maximum energy, right from the first referee’s whistle. We are going step by step, match by match.”
