The Conference Cup qualifying tournament for women’s water polo will be played in Novi Sad from Friday to Sunday, and the current Serbian champion, the Vojvodina team, will host German Bochum, Greek Chania and Spanish Tenerife.
Vojvodina’s first opponent will be Bochum on Friday at 6 p.m. A day later, at the same time, Novi Sad will face Hanja, and the tournament ends on Sunday, when Tenerife will also face them at 6 p.m.
– This is a much stronger level of competition than the previous two seasons when we played in the Challenger Cup and we have tougher rivals waiting for us here. We play our first match against Bochum, we already have experience with them. We played them last year and we beat them by a difference of nine, so I hope there won’t be any big surprises this time either. We haven’t met Chania and Tenerife before, we watched their matches and that’s where we’ll have to work. The plan is to win the first two matches and look for a place in the final eight. Tenerife are considered the favorites in our group. Since our group is the only one with four teams, we have a tougher task – said Sladjana Drezgić, reports Dnevnik.rs.
Group A includes Bogliasco, Sant Feliu and Alba Iulia, Group B includes Panionios, Cosenza and PAOK, and Group D includes Galatasaray, Mladost and Brugge. The top two teams from each of the four groups will qualify for the final tournament, which will be played at the end of March.
