Uroš Stevanović has submitted his irrevocable resignation as head coach of the Serbian national team.

This morning, the Serbian Water Polo Federation received the irrevocable resignation of the now former head coach of the men’s national team, Uroš Stevanović. We are reprinting his address in full and without changes:

“Dear Sir,

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that I am irrevocably resigning as the head coach of the Serbian national water polo team.

It was a great honor for me to represent my country in the best possible way. I believe my successor will feel the same way.

In recent days, I have witnessed, as have many water polo fans in Serbia and abroad, that the new president of the Serbian Water Polo Federation is using vocabulary that is not typical of current Olympic and European champions. A vocabulary that aims, for some unknown reason, to qualitatively and professionally discredit the Serbian national team. Since I deeply disagree with this and do not want any public controversy, I emphasize that I ‘got the message’ and I leave it to you to find a coach who will satisfy your high ambitions at every competition.

I would like to point out that out of respect for Serbian water polo, I will not continue any public polemics after my resignation.

Warm greetings,

“Uros Stevanovic”
