The Water Polo Federation of Serbia informs the public that Slađana Drezgić has been appointed as the new head coach of the Serbian women’s national team.
Slađana Drezgić began her very successful coaching career in 2012 at VK Vojvodina. She won her first trophies (championship and cup) with the girls under 17 in the 2018/19 season. After that, as the head coach of the senior women’s team of Vojvodina, she achieved historic success by winning six consecutive “double crowns”, including this year’s. Previously, she was on the coaching staff of the Serbian women’s junior and senior water polo teams.
Slađana Drezgić was born on March 14, 1985. She graduated from the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in Novi Sad. She is a graduated physical education professor and a graduated swimming coach and water polo sports operations coach by profession. She is the winner of the most prestigious sports award in the AP Vojvodina – the Spartak Award 2021 in the category of best coach, as well as the award for the best coach of Novi Sad in 2025.
“I am extremely honored to have been given the opportunity to lead the Serbian women’s national team. I have waited and wished for a long time to be a selector, and with the results achieved in the previous period, I have deserved it. I thank the leadership of the Water Polo Federation of Serbia for recognizing this and giving me a chance, which I believe I will justify. The results achieved with VK Vojvodina in all categories are the fruit of our fifteen years of work and great dedication to women’s water polo. It is of great importance to restore the cult of the national team, change the way we work, and to animate as many clubs as possible. We do not have much time for that, because the first challenges await us next year in the European Championship qualifiers,” said Slađana Drezgić upon her appointment.
