Red Star is certainly setting some records in international club competitions. In the first round against Sete, they played with goalkeeper Mišović and nine outfield players. When Popović earned a red card against the Spaniards, the Belgrade team had only eight players besides the goalkeeper, or two reserves. And that had to be felt. As the match went on, fatigue set in for the red and whites and the Spaniards won 9:7 (1:1, 0:1,3:3, 5:2).
The Belgrade team held on as best they could. They were in the game for three quarters, patient in attack, combative in defence and it was 5:4 before the last half. However, Mataro took advantage of his opportunities, in the last eight minutes he swam past his rival, easily reached Mišović’s net and deservedly won. On Saturday, Red Star plays Dinamo in the afternoon and in the evening in the last match of the tournament with Posillipo.
