The Serbian women’s water polo team, players under 18, defeated Colombia with a score of 15:9 (3:2, 4:1, 3:3, 5:3) in the final round of Group H in the play-offs for 13th to 20th place at the World Championship in Puerto de la Cruz.
Coach Dejan Bozić’s team controlled the score from the start. Serbia led 3:2 after the first quarter, and gained a key advantage in the second period, which they won 4:1, making it 7:3 at halftime.
The third quarter ended in a draw, 3:3, so Serbia entered the last eight minutes with a four-goal lead – 10:6. The Serbian water polo players were even more efficient in the final period, winning the last period 5:3 and achieving a convincing victory.
The most efficient player in the Serbian national team was Maša Ćuk with five goals. Nika Ratković scored four, Irina Trbanos three, Elena Ćuk two, and Danica Balać one goal. Agudelo Jimenez stood out in the Colombian national team with four goals.
Serbia finished second in Group H with two wins and one loss. They will play Brazil in the match for 15th place on Sunday, August 23, at 10 a.m. Serbian time. This will be the second meeting between these teams at the championship, as Serbia won 12:11 in the first phase.
