Serbia defeated by Croatia, faces Portugal for 9th to 12th place

The Serbian women’s water polo team (under-20 players) failed to advance to the quarterfinals of the European Championship in Portugal. Dejan Božić’s team was defeated by Croatia in a cross-over match with a score of 22:8 (3:2, 7:1, 8:2, 4:3).

Our national team played well against Croatia in the first quarter, after which the rivals had a minimal advantage – 3:2. Croatia played much more efficiently in the second period, winning that part of the match with a score of 7:1 and going into halftime with a 10:3 lead.

The rivals further increased their lead in the third quarter, scoring eight goals, while Serbia scored twice. The final period ended with a score of 4:3 for Croatia, for a final score of 22:8.

The most efficient player in the Serbian national team was Nika Ratković with four goals. Jovana Radonjić scored three, while Elena Ćuk scored once.

Our national team will continue the championship by playing for 9th to 12th place. Their next opponent will be host Portugal, who were defeated by Greece in a play-off match. The match between Serbia and Portugal is scheduled for Wednesday, August 5, at 2:45 p.m. The winner will fight for 9th place, and the loser for 11th place.
