The Serbian youth men’s water polo team (players under 16) started their performance at the World Championship in Zagreb with a convincing victory. Vojislav Čupić’s team defeated Puerto Rico in the first round match with a score of 26:3 (7:0, 7:0, 7:0, 5:3).
Our national team set the pace from the start and gained a seven-goal lead in the first quarter, not allowing their rivals to score. Serbia won the next two quarters with the same score, leading convincingly 21:0 heading into the final period.
Puerto Rico scored all three goals in the final quarter, which Serbia won 5:3, for a final score of 26:3.
The most efficient players in the Serbian national team were Marko Abadzic and Andrej Lazic with four goals each. Uroš Muncan and Strahinja Milutinovic scored three each, while Maksim Kreckovic, Jovan Guduric, Andrija Cubrilovic and Nemanja Grgic each scored twice.
Our national team will play against the Netherlands in the second round. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, at 2:30 p.m.
