The Serbian women’s water polo team achieved victory at the opening of the European Championship in Portugal, after defeating Turkey in the first round with a score of 9:8.
Turkey had a minimal advantage three times in the first 10 minutes, but the enthusiastic Jovana Radonjić scored the equalizer all three times. In the middle of the second period, the experienced Jelena Vuković brought about a turnaround, and Hristina Ilić continued the streak (5:3). Turkey equalized in the middle of the third quarter, but Serbia quickly responded with two goals from Jovana Radonjić on a counterattack.
In the last three minutes, Serbia entered with a goal advantage, and then Radonjić increased the lead to 9:7 with her sixth goal and maintained the advantage until the end.
