The Serbian women’s water polo team lost to Germany in the last round of the group 13:12 (3:4, 4:4, 1:0, 1:1 – 4:3). Miloš Bradić’s team secured first place in the group with one point in this match, so the Serbian women’s water polo team will play for ninth place with the Great Britain team on Monday.
Jovana Radonjić, Jelena Vuković and Maša Ćuk scored two goals each, and Ana Milićević, Nada Mandić and Elena Ćuk scored one each. For the Germans, the following scored: Ploc four, Dajke three, Ludvig and Sopidu one each.
Milićević, Radonjić and Cecilia Diaz Mesa scored from the five-point range, while Ludwig, Ploc, Dajke and Bujka scored from the other side. Hristina Ilic and Jelena Vuković were unsuccessful, so Germany won with a total score of 13:12.
As always in the duel between these two teams, there was a great fight, as in the previous five matches at the European Championships. The Germans were better three times in a row, and Serbia in the last two competitions.
Serbia had the biggest lead during the match, 7:5 and 8:6. However, the Germans managed to equalize by the end of the third quarter and then take a 9:8 lead. Radonjić equalized a minute before the end, and there were no goals until the end, so the match was decided by penalty kicks, in which the Germans were more fortunate.
