The head coach of the Serbian national water polo team, Vladimir Vujasinović, summarized his impressions after the first three weeks of preparations for participation in the Mediterranean Games.
“First of all, I would like to praise the entire team for everything they have done so far. We had an exceptional atmosphere, exceptional dedication. The motivation at every training session was competitive. The boys really understood this in the right way. First, they understood the call-up to the national team in the right way. Second, they understood this as a chance for their future under the Serbian national team cap. They gave their all in these three weeks to show that they are worthy of that cap. So, after these three weeks, I can say that we have done a really great job,” said Vujasinović.

Serbian water polo players participated in the OTP Cup in Budapest last week, where they took second place.
“It was a pleasure for us to play in a top-class organized tournament in the temple of water polo on Margitsigget. Regardless of the great rivalry between us and the Hungarians, I think a nice relationship was created, full of respect. Even the audience recognized that – the applause given to the Serbian water polo players on Margitsigget is a special proof of all that. As for the game, I have to say that I am very satisfied. That came from the way the guys trained. From the first to the last game, we played very nice water polo. I think this team came back with much more self-confidence” – emphasized Vladimir Vujasinović.
The Serbian water polo team continues training in Belgrade, where they will spar with the Russian team in the coming days. After a break (July 10–30), the second phase of preparations for the Mediterranean Games (Taranto, Italy, August 21–September 3, 2026) will be held in Belgrade and Athens.
“I think that in the next part of the preparation, the boys just need to continue working as they have been doing so far and that it will get better and better. The start is very good, this looks very nice and it’s up to me to maintain that atmosphere, to maintain that work discipline and to get the most out of it,” concluded coach Vujasinović.
