IN MEMORIAM Goran Sukno (1959 – 2026)

Goran Sukno, a prominent Yugoslav and Croatian water polo player, has passed away after a serious illness. He was born on April 6, 1959 in Cavtat. He played for Cavtat, Jug and Salerno.

With the Yugoslav national team, he won gold at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, the 1986 World Championships in Madrid, and silver at the 1985 European Championships in Sofia. With Yugoslavia, he was the European Champion in 1980, five-time Yugoslav Champion, and two-time winner of the Yugoslav Cup.

After finishing his playing career, as the sports director of the Dubrovnik team, he worked mostly on creating a powerful team that won a large number of trophies.

The Serbian Water Polo Federation sent a telegram of condolences to its colleagues from the Croatian Water Polo Federation and the family of Goran Sukno.
