The Vojvodina women’s water polo team won their sixth consecutive Serbian championship title, after beating Palilula 2-0 in the final series.
The Novi Sad team won the new trophy after two convincing matches. Vojvodina won the first final match with a score of 20:4, and then won the second match with a score of 14:3, thus confirming their championship title.
In the second leg, Vojvodina gained a big lead in the first half, while Palilula only scored its first goal in the third quarter. There was no major uncertainty about the outcome, and the team from Novi Sad calmly brought the match to an end.
With this triumph, Vojvodina consolidated its domestic championship trophies, as it won the Serbian Cup and the championship. With this, the Novi Sad team continued its six-season winning streak.
The most efficient scorer in Vojvodina was Julija Šavčenko with three goals, while Jana Pejić, Melanija Šegulja and Milica Moćan each scored two goals. For Palilula, Andrejić, Zoja Ratković and Petrović scored.
The best player of the final was Vojvodina goalkeeper and captain Nikolina Travar. The award was presented to her by the new Secretary General of the Water Polo Federation of Serbia, Ivan Basara, who then presented the medals to the teams, as well as the championship trophy to the Vojvodina captain.
Vojvodina thus ended the season on the domestic stage with a double crown and once again confirmed the continuity of results in women’s water polo.
Partizan and Red Star decide third place in a masterclass
A third match will be played in the fight for third place, as Red Star defeated Partizan 12:11 in the second match and tied the series.
Partizan previously took the lead after the first match, but the red and whites managed to respond in the second leg and extend the series. Thus, the decision on the third position in the Serbian championship will come down to the match, which is scheduled for May 30th.
This match should bring an uncertain end to the battle for the standings, as both teams have shown in the series so far that they are capable of victory. The winner of the third match will finish the season in third place.
