Pismo predsednika LEN Paola Barelija

Uoči sutrašnjeg sastanka UO Reginalne lige u Beogradu, predsednik LEN Paolo Bareli se pismom obratio čelnim ljudima saveza Srbije i Hrvatske.

Paolo Bareli

Dear Friends,

As we echoed in our official LEN Statement, while we condemn what happened, we are very much convinced that an unacceptable act of a very small minority must not ruin the great connections of two such outstanding water polo nations as Serbia and Croatia.

Dear Friends, no one knows better than you how long and sometimes painful was the road you both had travelled before your water polo matches became peaceful encounters where tensions stayed healthy, were only seen in the pool but no longer at the stands and definitely not outside the competition areas.

Despite what happened, Im convinced that both water polo communities had embraced the other long ago and still can offer a hand to the other any time, anywhere. Your brilliant sport rivalry have remained within the frame of fantastic sporting spectacles and that should not change now.

Let me ask you to settle things as true sportsmen, negotiate in good faith, find common

ground as you have done in the past years. Your clubs and national teams shall face each

other in the coming months and years frequently, surely on grand occasions when medals are

at stake.

I do hope that these matches will offer a true celebration of water polo as theyve been in recent years. The European Aquatics Family would love to see you and particularly your supporters, shaking hands again and carry on your good relations as usual.

Trust in your wisdom and fairness, as always.

Best wishes,

Paolo Barelli
